Ingredients

  • 4 large golden potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Fresh chives, finely chopped (for garnish)

Preparation

Time needed: 1 hour

Mashed potatoes are a classic, creamy side dish made by mashing boiled potatoes and mixing them with butter, milk or cream, and seasonings. Loved for their smooth texture and rich flavor, they pair well with a variety of meals and can be customised with ingredients like garlic, cheese, or herbs for extra depth.

  1. Mash the Potatoes

In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until smooth and lump-free.

  2. Mix in the Goodness

Add melted butter, heavy cream, parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.

  3. Add the Egg Yolk

Mix in the egg yolk to help the potatoes hold their shape when baked.

  4. Pipe the Swirls

Transfer the mashed potatoes to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe swirls onto a lined baking sheet.

  5. Bake Until Golden

Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F) and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden on the edges.

  6. Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle with fresh chives and enjoy your beautifully swirled mashed potatoes!
