Graaff-Reinet and Nieu Bethesda are polishing their stoeps and their wine glasses again for another weekend of the finest wining and dining. The 12th annual Original Stoep Tasting Weekend, hosted by the Karoo Wine Club and Graaff-Reinet and Nieu Bethesda Tourism, will start tomorrow, May 22, 2025, at 14:00 and promises to be an unforgettable experience.
Last weekend, these two towns hosted a very successful Sibling Stoep Tasting event – the second of its kind – with products from 63 different producers available for tasting. This year’s Original Stoep Tasting is expected to host 72 producers on 41 different stoeps across the two towns, offering an even more expansive and vibrant celebration of South African wines and spirits.
The tasting schedule for the weekend is as follows:
· Thursday, May 22: 14:00–18:00
· Friday, May 23: 14:00–18:00
· Saturday, May 24: 12:00–18:00
Tickets for the Original Stoep Tasting are R550 per person for all three days and are available online at or from the Graaff-Reinet Tourism Office in Church Street. Your ticket is valid for all three days and in both towns. Tasting packs, which include your official Stoep Tasting glass, can be collected by presenting your QR-coded ticket at the Graaff-Reinet Tourism Office.
To enhance your experience, a shuttle service will operate between Graaff-Reinet and Nieu Bethesda throughout the weekend. Wine lovers wanting to safely enjoy tastings in both towns without the need to drive can choose between a weekend pass and a pay-per-ride option:
- Weekend Pass: R350 per person
- Single Trip Fare: R100 per person, per trip
