The Odeion String Quartet will be touring with the Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra to the 14th Festival Culturel International de Musique Symphonique, scheduled to take place in Algiers, Algeria, this week.
An ensemble from the orchestra will perform at a concert today – Thursday, 17 April – presenting a programme that features a distinguished group of South African artists including Siphokazi Maphumulo (soprano), Megan-Geoffrey Prins (piano) and the Odeion String Quartet featuring Samantha Durrant, Sharon de Kock, Jean-Louise Moolman, and Anmari van der Westhuizen.
Bongani Tembe, chief executive and artistic director of the Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra, reflects on this international extravaganza.

The Festival is organised by the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Artsa nd serves as a significant platform for global orchestral music.
This year’s event will feature ensembles from various countries, including South Africa, Algeria, Germany, Austria, China, Egypt, France, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Syria, the Czech Republic, Tunisia, and Venezuela.
